Welcome to the Montana State University College of Agriculture! Our blend of learning (on- and off-campus), discovery and outreach programs through the federal/state partnership with the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station and Extension Service reflects our university's unique Land Grant designation. The MSU College of Agriculture offers:
- Eleven bachelors, nine masters and four doctoral degree programs from five departments and one division.
- The largest number of scholarships, both in total numbers and dollar amount, of any college at MSU.
- Dynamic research programs conducted throughout Montana with Bozeman-based and Agricultural Research Center-based faculty and staff.
- Four of the top 10 departments at MSU in terms of research expenditures, focusing on infectious diseases, microbes in Yellowstone National Park, invasive plant species, soil science and water resources, to name a few.
- A 60,000 square foot Plant Growth Center with 29 glasshouse rooms that are light and temperature controlled and the only bio-containment facility west of the Mississippi River for quarantining and testing insects and plant pathogens.
- The Bozeman Agricultural Research and Teaching Farm, just west of the main campus, that houses the Oscar Thomas Nutrition Center, Miller Stock Pavilion, Equine Center, Horseshoeing School, Feed Mill, and Beef Center.
- Three off-campus research ranches that focus on livestock, rangeland, wildlife and grazing investigations.
- Towne’s Harvest Garden, a student-run vegetable garden that offers shares to community members, partners with the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, and raises awareness about the value of locally grown food.
- One of only three wool research labs in the United States.
