Graduate Degree Programs
Detailed information on graduate degrees are available from the specific department and the College of Graduate Studies. Links are provided to the departments (in parentheses) to make your search easier.
M.S. - Agricultural Education
The graduate program is designed to provide advanced professional education for extension agents, for teachers of agricultural education and for individuals in agricultural service areas where the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experiences essential to working with people are desirable attributes.
M.S. - Animal and Range Sciences (Animal and Range Sciences)
- Animal Option
The areas of study in animal science include nutrition, breeding and genetics, physiology, and production. Research problems may involve beef cattle, sheep, swine, laboratory animals, biochemical or other properties of agricultural products.
- Range Option
Major areas of study are range ecology, habitat management, watershed management, grazing management, monitoring, riparian ecosystems, measurements, and plant-animal (livestock and wildlife) interactions.
M.S. - Applied Economics (Agricultural Economics & Economics)
The primary purpose of the graduate program in applied economics is to help the student develop an understanding of and capability to use the tools of economic analysis in solving a broad spectrum of problems in agricultural economics and economics.
M.S. - Entomology
Current research focuses on insect pests of agricultural importance, biological control of insects and weeds, integrated pest management, and basic studies in ecology, physiology, behavior, and evolution. Field work is an integral part of most programs.
M.S. - Land Rehabilitation (Interdisciplinary)
The interdisciplinary degree offers advanced study in rehabilitation of disturbed lands. Site revegetation, soil remediation, ecology, riparian zone restoration, stream channel restoration, investigation of impacted geologic resources and remediation of contaminated sites are included in areas of study.
M.S. - Land Resources & Environmental Sciences (Land Resources & Environmental Sciences)
Current programs focus on advanced study in agricultural systems, environmental sciences, land rehabilitation and watershed management with the goal of generating objective, scientifically-based knowledge about natural and managed land resources and land use.
M.S. - Plant Pathology (Plant Sciences and Plant Pathology)
Many research projects are problem-oriented and pertain to major plant pathological problems in the State. Currently active research projects involve soil-borne diseases of cereals, genetic bases for disease resistance in field crops, cereal leaf spots, virus diseases of cereals and potatoes, bacterial diseases, and the biochemistry and molecular genetics of plant disease.
M.S. - Plant Sciences (Plant Sciences and Plant Pathology)
M.S. - Science Education (Interdisciplinary and Intercollege)
Designed for practicing middle school and high school science teachers. The Colleges of Agriculture, Education, Health and Human Development and Letters and Science sponsor this intercollege degree.
M.S. - Veterinary Molecular Biology (Veterinary Molecular Biology)
The primary mission of VMB is to perform basic and applied research using state-of-the-art technologies to contribute to a better understanding of animal health and disease. Research in VMB includes investigation of the pathogenesis of disease processes, development of immunity to infectious organisms, development of improved methods of detection, prevention, and control of infectious diseases, and developing an understanding of the epizootiology of livestock and wildlife diseases.
Ph.D. - Animal and Range Sciences (Animal and Range Sciences)
Ph.D.
